Razzoli fastest in Zagreb slalom opening run
ZAGREB, Croatia — Giuliano Razzoli of Italy led a men's World Cup slalom after the opening leg on Thursday.
Razzoli won here last year and finished the Crveni Spust course in 56.08 seconds to lead Croatia's Ivica Kostelic by 0.22 seconds.
Austria's Benjamin Raich was 0.44 back in third.
Defending slalom champion Reinfried Herbst of Austria finished seventh with 0.70 to make up in the second run, while 2009 champion Jean-Baptiste Grange of France was 1.62 behind.
Canadians Michael Janyk and Trevor White were 33rd and 35th, respectively, just missing the cut for round two.
The competition was interrupted for five minutes as strong winds forced organizers to remove a sponsor banner over the finish line.
