Quebec coach Serge Dugas honoured with Dave Murray Award
The Canadian Ski Coaches Federation is proud to announce that the 2010 Dave Murray Memorial Coach of the Year Award had been awarded to Serge Dugas from Magog, Quebec.
''Serge has been an inspiration in the Canadian coaching community for his athletes' results and his relentless pursuit of ongoing education,'' said Keith Robinson, CSCF high-performance coach education director.
Dugas is the first alpine coach to compete all the 20 NCCP Level 4 tasks of CSCF Level 4 Elite Coach certification. This is the highest achievement in the National Coaching Certification Program and the CSCF.
Dugas has been working for the past 21 years with the Canadian Alpine Ski Team in many different positions. Paul Kristofic, CAST men's head coach, said, “This is great that Serge will be recognized. He deserves it.”
For the past six years, Dugas has helped the Canadian Alpine Ski Team men's speed group become a recognized force on the World Cup tour. Last winter, he helped Eric Guay earn the crystal globe in super-G.
Athletes and coaches confirm that Dugas is a hard worker and always dedicates himself to his athletes reaching their goals. Dugas' values and competencies reflect those of the high standards demanded by this award.
The following criteria are considered for the nomination for the CSCF Dave Murray Coach of the Year Award: Innovation, leadership, recruitment, retention, athlete results, ethical conduct. S-Magazine
