Olympic SBX medallist Robertson shelved with concussion

Nov. 22, 2010 ― Canada Snowboard

Olympic silver medallist Mike Robertson of Canmore, Alberta, will miss the front end of the 2011 season after sustaining his second concussion in less than six months while attending a training camp in New Zealand earlier this fall.

Robertson, who took the silver medal in snowboardcross at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in February, sustained the injury while participating at a training camp with the national team in New Zealand.

Advised by the medical staff at Canada Snowboard, Robertson will re-evaluate his health after the Christmas break. The 2011 FIS snowboard World Championships will be held in La Molina, Spain, from Jan. 14-23, 2011.

The first of six snowboardcross races of the 2011 LG Snowboard FIS World Cup Tour is scheduled for Dec. 7 in Lech, Austria. The Canadian snowboardcross team will travel to Hintertux, Austria, for a training camp next week in preparation for the upcoming season.  S-Magazine
