Mike Janyk makes a heads-up move with Bombardier

World-leading transportation manufacturer Bombardier has agreed to a new headgear partnership with FIS Alpine World Ski Championships medallist Michael Janyk.

Janyk, the most decorated slalom skier on the Canadian Alpine Ski Team, won the bronze medal at the 2009 World Championships at Val d'Isère, France, has one World Cup podium result and is a four-time GMC Canadian slalom champion. He was also named ACA's Breakthrough Athlete of the Year in 2007.

"I'm excited to be partnered with Bombardier, a company that's highly active in our sport and has done so much to raise the level of ski racing in Canada," said the 28-year-old Janyk. "Having the right support is such a key element to winning, and with Bombardier proudly on my helmet, I can't wait to start racing this year."

"We are both working hard to be leaders in what we do, and I am looking forward to representing their brand to an international audience this season," added Janyk.

Bombardier, currently a Summit Level partner with Alpine Canada, has had a sponsor relationship with Canada's alpine teams since 2006. It is also the title sponsor of the Bombardier Lake Louise Winterstart, the opening race of the World Cup speed season for both men and women.

"Michael Janyk is a remarkable athlete poised for a great season," said John Paul Macdonald, senior vice president of human resources and public affairs for Bombardier. "In 2009, he showed aspiring Canadian skiers that the road to success comes through hard work and determination. Bombardier is proud to contribute to Michael's development and to be a part of his alpine ambitions."

Janyk's 2010-11 season is scheduled to get under way with the opening men's World Cup slalom race in Levi, Finland, on Sunday.
