Guay 4th before weather scraps Birds of Prey training
BEAVER CREEK, Colorado — Austria's Michael Walchhofer and Italy's Peter Fill posted the fastest times in a World Cup downhill training session before weather caused the cancellation of the event.
Walchhofer and Fill each finished Wednesday's run in 1 minute, 48.34 seconds as only 44 of the 79 scheduled racers started on the snowy and foggy course.
Canada's Erik Guay was fourth, just .07 behind, with Robbie Dixon 10th before the training was scrapped.
The Americans had four skiers finish in the top 15 on the challenging Birds of Prey course. Travis Ganong was seventh, 0.50 seconds behind the leaders, while Bode Miller wound up 11th.
Austria's Mario Scheiber and Switzerland's Ami Oreiller didn't finish the course, while Austria's Benjamin Raich didn't start as the conditions deteriorated throughout the day. S-Magazine
