Alpine racer McBroom breaks tibia, out for season
Canada's Kelly McBroom is sidelined for the season after crashing in a World Cup super-G training run Monday in Saalbach, Austria.
The skier from Canmore, Alta., broke her left tibia — shin bone — and was airlifted to a local hospital where she underwent emergency surgery hours after the crash. The 21-year-old will have more treatment this week before returning home to continue her rehabilitation.
"I hear that she's already talking about coming back, about skiing again," Canadian women's head coach Hugues Ansermov said in a release. "She's never had an injury-free season and that was her big goal this year. She wasn't able to achieve that but she really loves the sport."
McBroom recovered from a serious knee injury to make a comeback last month at Lake Louise, Alta. She was in Austria ahead of this weekend's races in Zauchensee. S-Magazine
