Quebec’s Cook locks up Nor-Am super-G title
BURKE MOUNTAIN, Vermont — Dustin Cook of Lac Sainte Marie, Quebec, won the men's Nor-Am super-G title following the cancellation of Monday’s race at Nor-Am Finals at Burke Mountain, Vermont, due to poor weather.
Cook finishes the Nor-Am season with three Nor-Am super-G podiums in five races, including a win at Panorama, B.C., in December. His 289 total points are 43 more than USA's Chris Frank.
"I was getting good results early in the season and I started to think it was possible (to win the Nor-Am super-G title)," said Cook, who earns a World Cup sport in the super-G.
"It's definitely something that I want to do, something that will motivate me this summer," said Cook of racing World Cup. He said that right now his focus is on taking a run at the overall Nor-Am title, where he currently trails American Will Brandenburg by 31 points with two races remaining.
The women’s super-combined and super-G were also cancelled. Georgia Simmerling will end the season in second place in super-G as a result, finishing with 242 points. American Laurenne Ross, who earned the downhill title earlier this winter, also earned the super-G.
The USA's Julia Ford took top spot in the super-combined standings with Ross and Megan McJames tying for second.
The Nor-Am Finals are scheduled conclude with tech events later this week at Waterville Valley, N.H. SRC
